Founder: Jordan Guildford

Founder: Jordan Guildford

I come from the small town of Scott’s Bay in Nova Scotia. I grew up with my sister and brother on a small hobby farm consisting of sheep, ducks and horses. My mother and father very much wanted us to have a simple and peaceful childhood. At least that was the plan…

Unfortunately, life did not go as planned.  My family suffered greatly. Food, hot water and other essentials were often a luxury. Despite all we suffered, we learned some valuable lessons; humility, kindness and compassion, truth, honor and courage. These are the principles by which I live my life and the foundation for Gems for Gems.

Humility: I have been committed to the concept of doing good, not for the recognition it acquires but for the satisfaction of the act itself. Mathew 6:3 “But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what the right hand doeth.” Gems for Gems was founded on this concept. The growth of Gems for Gems has brought more notoriety; however, the importance of humble giving is maintained through the collaborative efforts and execution of both the ‘Christmas Jewelry Drive’ and ‘Zero to Hero’ events. These private events are geared exclusively towards women in shelters without public attendance or press.

Kindness and Compassion: It is of utmost importance that Kindness and Compassion be at the forefront of all my ventures, decisions and collaborative efforts both personally and professionally.

Truth: Who are you if you can’t be trusted?

Honour and Courage: I feel that honour and courage should drive any ethically aware company. Unfortunately, these principles are often lost in the pursuit of growth and greed or in the face of desperation. Acting with honour and making courageous decisions when tackling difficult situations is how we ensure we can grow while maintaining our humility, kindness, compassion and truth.

Gems for Gems remains true to these pillars. We are rising above all expectations due to our dedicated belief and assistance from a strong community of like-minded, compassionate people. People who are committed to the success of Gems for Gems. This unwavering support allows us to do an enormous amount of good and ensures we will be able to continue to “do good.”

I am and will remain incredibly grateful for all the faith and support both myself and Gems for Gems have received. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Gems for Gems – President & Founder

Jordan is one of those ladies truly looking to unite woman to benefit the group and not the individual. In 2015, Jordan organized the grassroots of Gems for Gems by organizing their first jewelry drive for the underprivileged women of Calgary at Christmas. This has since grown to an association of women who hold multiple events and activities throughout the year to raise awareness, funds and the overall lives of Calgary’s women in need.
Jordan is a certified Life Coach, studied science psychology at SMU with a focus on early childhood development and biological psychology, and founder of Gems for Gems. She is a hard working mother of two who was inspired to be a part of this group to create a network around her where women support each other and grow side by side.”
